Dozens of emergency sirens wailed throughout the streets of Bnei Brak on erev Shabbos Parshas Eikev during the Friday night hours. The technical malfunction led to panic among some residents as they remembered one year ago, Operation Protective Edge.
Making things worse, residents explains the sirens signaling an attack sounded throughout the city, explaining this continued at an interval of a few minutes for hours.
Residents explain the worst thing is that if chas v’sholom there was as true emergency, no one would have headed for a shelter as it was understood by everyone at some point the system was malfunctioning.
The problem was corrected during the night. After several false alarms IDF Homefront Command officials arrived in the city and broke into a school building with police and took the problematic sirens with them.
The IDF Spokesman’s Office message said the sirens were heard in Bnei Brak, Ramat Gan and neighboring area.
