For Yossi Levy the scene was one of horror when he arrived at the Yad L’Kehillah storage facility in Afula on Wednesday, seeing that it was void of all its contents, down to the last can.

Thieves during the night broke in and emptied the facility, which contained thousands of shekels of food for the area’s poor. Levy, who heads the organization, explained sorrowfully that this Shabbos, many families will not receive Tomchei Shabbos packages since they are left with nothing.

Levy lamented the fact that many families will not be receiving food this Shabbos as a result of the unfortunate and despicable act of unscrupulous individuals, adding there is no way they could not of known the storage facility is operated by the chessed organization.

Levy and his associates point out the situation in Afula is difficult, with high unemployment and many families requiring weekly assistance.
