IDF Deputy Chief of Staff Major-General Dan Harel on Wednesday will release the official IDF command report of Operation Cast Lead, the counter-terrorism offensive launched in Gaza. Harel reports the document was prepared on the command level, involving officers at all levels in the chain of command.
The report will address the IDF’s military response, the targeting of civilians, the air force’s operations, navy operations, Homefront Command, Southern Command, and it will address accusations that phosphorus bombs were used.
The actions of soldiers and officers are examined amid charges of immoral behavior and warfare contradicting international treaties.
