Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin on Sunday is visiting the Israeli Arab community of Um el-Fahm, the site of the recent controversial Israel flag march headed by Baruch Marzel.
Rivlin will be accompanied by MK Uri Orbach of the right-wing Bayit HaYehudi Party as well as MK Afou Agbaria, a resident of the community.
Speaking to the press, Rivlin stated the Israeli Arab citizens must act as a bridge between Israel and her Arab neighbors towards achieving peace and stability in the region.
“It has been decreed that we live together and we must learn to do so” Rivlin told Israel Radio. He believes Um um-Fahm plays a major role in Jewish – Arab relations in Israel. “We cannot ignore the differences and the dispute but we must make an effort to reach a mutually accepted goal.”
Rivlin visited with municipality leaders and local schools.
