Nine youths are in custody today in connection with a ring of thieves who stole tzedaka boxes from shuls and yeshivas in Modi’in. In some of the cases, there were reports of vandalism and damage to the shuls and yeshivas.

In one of the cases one of the youths stated “I stole the money because my parents did not give me any allowance”.

Another one of the suspects explains he vandalized the shuls to impress his friends, as he did buying them food and drink with the money.

The suspects were released following police questioning and the case has been handed over to the prosecutor, who will decide if criminal indictments will be filed.
