City Council Hopeful Joshua Skaller Volunteers for Boro Park’s Pre-Pesach Food Drive

m.jpgVolunteers at the Boro Park Jewish Community Council saw something markedly different. Joshua Skaller, a City Council candidate for Brooklyn’s 39th District, paid a personal visit to the headquarters to help with the vital pre-Pesach food distribution drive.

As he rolled up his sleeves to hand out food packages, Skaller praised the Community Council’s effort under its current Executive Director, Rabbi Yechiel Kaufman.

“Helping those who need it most; that is my motivation in seeking public office,” Skaller said. “I am especially encouraged that our community is enriched with organizations that share this objective – organizations like the Boro Park Jewish Community Council.”

Refined and soft-spoken, Joshua Skaller is not your run-of-the-mill candidate. Prior to settling in New York, Skaller’s own grandparents fled Nazi Germany – an experience which instilled in him a deep sense of connection to the local Jewish community.

“I am proud that there are so many dedicated individuals and groups in our community that are concerned with the needs of the less fortunate,” said Skaller. “The inspiration I draw from my visits with these wonderful people renews my dedication to working as hard as I can to improve the lives of everyone in our community.”

The Boro Park Jewish Community Council addresses the urgent social service needs of the Boro Park community by providing advocacy and referral programs related to housing, health and social care services.
