New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio is not backing down in his ongoing feud with Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
The intra-party rivalry between the state’s two most powerful Democrats has escalated to new heights in recent weeks.
De Blasio, who frequently remained silent when his agenda was blocked by Cuomo, finally strongly criticized his friend-turned-foe last week.
He accuses Cuomo of holding a vendetta against those who disagree with him and claims the governor didn’t help New York City during the state’s most recent legislative session.
Cuomo returned fire on Tuesday, suggesting the mayor is frustrated he can’t do more for his constituents and doesn’t understand how Albany works.
De Blasio did not back off from his criticisms Thursday, saying, “It’s my job to speak truth as I see it.”
