Maran HaGaon HaRav Aaron Yehuda Leib Shteinman Shlita is calling on the tzibur to avoid trips to water parks. The Gadol Hador was asked about an outing for girls to a water park, responding they should not go. I am afraid of water” the rav is quoted saying.
The announced ruling of Rav Shteinman follows the directive from Rabbi Lazerson and Chinuch Atzmai, which has sent a letter to its mosdos prohibiting school and camp trips to water parks and pools as was reported by YWN-ISRAEL.
An avreich came to R’ Shteinman asking about a trip to a water park for his daughters. The rav expressed his opposition to such trips in no uncertain terms.
Chinuch Atzmai explains to the heads of its mosdos that in light of the recent fatal drownings, it is canceling any pool/water related outings for all its mosdos.

No problem they can stay on grounds & say tehillim instead
One wonders how ill equipped to think the future generations of Jews are when one cannot decide for him or herself simple decisions like this but must ask a spiritual mentor
The last article about this states “parents seeking water activities for their children may do so in the framework of the family but not camp or school.” Presumably because schools can’t ensure safety. Is this psak for families also?
#2 aka clueless .. the question was is it a place that is appropriate for a ben torah even under the conditions of separate times for men and women and obviously it was a relevant question to ask because the answer was no. now you would probably say it is appropriate, so obviously this issue is a question to pose to a talmid chochom.
To #1 if you unfortunately don’t have Respect for Our גדולי ישראל, PLEASE Keep it to Yourself!
All he said was “I am afraid of water”
Looks like some zealots are looking for something to do.
People must learn to think before asking stupid questions like this one. They are waisting the time of גדולי ישראל
Am I missing something? The article says:
“The Gadol Hador was asked about an outing for girls to a water park, responding they should not go.”
So girls and girl camps and girls schools should not have an outing to a water park.
How do you jump from there to the headline:
Maran HaRav Shteinman Prohibits Visiting Water Parks
The headlines should have said that Maran HaRav Shteinman Says Girls Should Not Visit Water Parks
#4 It was nothing to do with appropriate or not appropriate. It was a question of whether its safe or not. I might not agree with #2 but I can understand he thinks questions of safety are up to you.
Mi v’Esh? uMi b’Mayim? coming up in 68 days time:- both fireworks on someone’s head & water parks are deadly.
Mikvehs are deep pools too!
just sayin-i think the mishna in kiddushin says that a father must teach his son to swim
I have no doubt we didn’t get the whole story here. Without even thinking, I could see tznius issues coming up with water parks.
I 100% BELIEVE THE RAV WAS ADDRESSING A QUESTION ABOUT THE 3 WEEKS AND 9 DAYS AND NOT ON AMY GIVEN SUNDAY. WE NEED TO SEE THIS IN CONTEXT AND FROM THE RAV HIMSELF. NO ONE SHOULD EVER POST A PSAK WITHOUT AN AUTHORIZED QUOTE FROM THE RAV. HOW DO WE KNOW EXACTLY WHAT WAS SAID AND WHY. YWN I THINK SOME RESEARCH SHOULD BE DONE
The Gadol Hador was asked about an outing for girls to a water park, responding they should not go. I am afraid of water” the rav is quoted saying.
There is no actual quote of the Rav concerning the Psak? Note also, there are no beginning quotation marks, which makes me suspicious. I would love to hear the recording if it was made.
It’s very likely that the Rav would advise ALL yidden not to go to water parks, and especially during the nine days, since the Rav is afraid of water; which means he considers these types of water activities a sakanah.
