A 17-year-old Jewish male wearing gloves was nabbed by police as he was burglarizing the Jerusalem apartment of Jerusalem Sephardi Chief Rabbi Shlomo Amar Shlita.
Police were called on erev Shabbos to the Ramat Eshkol neighborhood of Yerushalayim where Rav Amar lives. Police saw the bars on a windows were removed and they decided to enter the home via that window. When they entered they saw a 17-year-old in IDF uniform, wearing gloves, helping himself to items in the home. The young burglar told police he is aware the rabbi and his family are abroad because he knows the family.
Rav Amar and his rebitzen are on a Torah speaking tour in Prague. Neighbors saw light in the apartment and summoned police. Police placed the young suspect under arrest and they exited the home via the window.
