King Abdullah’s Dog Dies in an Israeli Hospital

A dog belonging to Jordan’s King Abdullah II and Queen Rania was brought to Israel during Operation Cast Lead in a clandestine move, seeking to avoid the media spotlight during the Israeli counter-terrorist offensive in Gaza.

Israel’s veterinary services are well known in the region, and according to the Yediot Achronot report, it was not the first time the Jordanian monarch called on Israel’s center in Bet Dagan to come to the assistance of the royal canine.

Despite the efforts of the veterinary staff, the dog died after a number of days. The body of the dog was returned to the royal family with sincere apologies from the medical staff.

Officials in the Bet Dagan Animal Hospital declined comment.

Israeli tourists who visited Petra, Jordan, were taken aback to see a number of stores have posted signs “Sorry, we do not receive dogs and Israelis”. Apparently the posting of the signs followed Operation Cast Lead.

Members of the tour group reported they were treated with hostility, with the locals making their ill feelings well-known to them.

The group’s guide returned with photos of the signs. One of the veteran travelers to Petra insists this is the first time he has even encountered such a reprehensible attitude.

Petra is a popular tourist attraction for many visiting the Mideast and a popular destination for many Israelis as well.”

At least by us Jordanians and Dogs (even Jordanian dogs) are allowed
