Baruch Dayan HaEmmes: Rav Shmuel Meir Gelber z”l, one of the prominent talmidim of HaGaon HaRav Shmuel Halevy Wosner ZT”L was niftar in Bnei Brak during the night (Thursday to Friday) of 2 Tammuz. He began studying together with the late posek hador at the age of 10 and throughout the years the connection between them increased as Rav Gelber became an integral aspect of the late Gadol Hador’s life.

The niftar arrived in Eretz Yisrael after the Holocaust together with his rebitzen and they built their home and remained in touch with Rav Wosner, becoming a close member of his inner circle. While Rav Wosner addressed the ruchniyus in Yeshiva Chachmei Lublin, Rav Gelber concerned himself with finding the funds to keep the yeshiva operating.

Grandchildren of the niftar explain that it was evident back then that Rav Wosner understood he could involve himself in limud while his trusted associate would see to the financial needs of the yeshiva. Family members explain he was moser nefesh throughout his life for the yeshiva.

The rav is survived by his ten children, all rabbonim, and their offspring B”H. the levaya was held on erev Shabbos at 10:00 from the niftar’s home, 12 Ohr Chaim Street in Bnei Brak via Yeshivas Chachmei Lublin to the Vishnitz Cemetery.
