Felder Sponsors DEP Outreach Program

dep.gifBrooklyn, NY – Council Member Simcha Felder will sponsor an outreach event hosted by the NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). DEP Personnel will be available to answer questions from area residents and business owners regarding their water and sewer bills. They will also be on hand to help them resolve overdue water and sewer charges.

Additionally, this event will provide hundreds of area residents who have pending liens against their property due to default water bills and property taxes with a payment incentive plan that offers a financial incentive for customers with long-standing disputes to settle their outstanding water bills.

“This is a great opportunity for area residents and business owners to settle late payment charges, ask questions regarding their bill, or just get assistance from trained customer service representatives,” Felder said “Some consumers may even qualify for a further reduction of their bill.”

The event will also feature information from other agencies that provide assistance to property owners. Area residents and business owners can ask agency employees with questions regarding foreclosures, securing low-interest loans, the Senior Citizen Homeowners Property Tax Exemption Program(SCHE), and the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP).

“Anyone who has questions regarding their water bill should be there on the 31st,” Felder said, “It would be a shame to miss this chance.”

The event takes place on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 from 4PM-7PM at the Boro Park “Y”, on 4912 14th Avenue in Brooklyn.
