Modesto Synagogue Defaced With Swastikas, Graffiti

gr.jpgModesto, California – Police are searching for two vandals caught on tape spray painting swastikas and other graffiti on a Modesto synagogue.

Surveillance cameras caught the pair spraying swastikas and slurs on the front entrance of Congregation Beth Shalom on Sherwood Avenue early Tuesday morning.

Modesto police are investigating it as a hate crime because of the anti-Semitic drawings and derogatory slurs against Jews left on the synagogue.

Most of the vandalism had been painted over by Tuesday afternoon.

Police are reviewing the surveillance video.  They hope someone comes forward with information about the crime.

Police ask anyone with information about this crime to call Crime Stoppers at 209-521-4636. Tipsters also can e-mail tips through the Crime Stoppers Web site, www.modestopolice.com/CrimeStoppers, or text tips to CRIMES (274637) by typing “Tip704” plus your message.
