Tzfas Chief Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu told Kol Chai Radio on Monday that we may not release terrorists. He explained that about 30% return to their former ways, and they will murder again. “Gilad Shalit’s life is not worth more than those who will be murdered as a result of the release” explained the rav, who when asked how the government entertains such policies stated, “We are not governed by rulers who follow halacha.”
The rav suggests other methods to obtain Shalit’s release, including the cessation of electric and water to Gaza until the soldier is handed over in good health.
