MK Yisrael Eichler on Tuesday, 22 Sivan was voted in unanimously to head the Knesset Ombudsman Committee. After the appointment he received congratulatory wishes from members of the party’s Degel Hatorah faction despite the ongoing machlokes between Degel and the Agudas Yisrael faction regarding appointments in the 20th Knesset.

Eichler was appointed as a deputy speaker but he complained since that post is more of a title than a position that enables him to work for the tzibur. He sent a letter of complaint to the appropriate officials in the Prime Minister’s Office requesting to head the Ombudsman Committee.

Eichler explains he is a doer and as such, he is less interested in prestigious titles but wants a position that gives him the authority to act to assist the tzibur.
