The IDF will be using Chevron’s Bet HaShalom for a base and area lookout. The move is in line with the decision to reopen Tzion Road to Arab motorists, permitting soldiers to view the area below from Bet HaShalom. Military officials point out the move is a temporary one, until other arrangements for a permanent lookout post are made. The road is scheduled to be reopened next month.
The army announced that three new checkpoints will also be established between Kiryat Arba and the Ma’aras HaMachpelah.
Chevron’s Jewish leaders remain adamantly opposed to the opening of the road, which they insist will further compromise the safety of the area’s Jewish population.

Once again the Israeli government proves what a bunch of frauds and hypocrits they are. Although I am certainly glad that this use of Bet HaShalom by the IDF may help security in the area, A) The government had NO right to expel the people living in it after almost ONE MILLION dollars was paid to purchase it, and B) IF the government claims it was not a legal purchase (as apparently it does claim, and that was the supposed basis of the expulsion) and that it still belongs to the original arab owner, then what right do THEY HAVE to take it over and use it for their purposes?!?! I guess they got the OK from hillary and obama.
