About 1,000 people were on hand, including Chief Rabbi Yona Metzger Shlita, mohalim and many others to mark 20 years since the establishment of Brit Yosef Yitzchak.
According to the organization’s founder, Rav Yaron Amit and his son, who directs operations today, Rav Aryeh Amit, Brit Yosef Yitzchak to date has performed 35,000 britot around the world.
Rav Metzger spoke of the organization’s fabulous work, stating he is personally involved and is aware of one case in which a youth who was involved in vandalism in Petach Tikvah ultimately agreed to a bris and through that act, has become frum and today, is a member of the Shomer Shabbos community.
It was an emotional scene when 13-year-old Gavriel Noach got up to speak. He explained that a number of years ago, when he arrived with his mother from Russia, he was adamant in his refusal to have a bris. He refused to permit himself to be persuaded.
Following the terror attack against the Beis Chabad in Mumbai, he began thinking and called on Brit Yosef Yitzchak to arrange the bris, insisting that he be named after the Kadosh, Rav Gavriel Noach Holtzberg HY”D.
Rav Moshe Asman Shlita, the chief rabbi of Ukraine told the participants that he is well aware with the organization and its avodas kodesh, adding he was even privileged to pay for one of nine britot which was held the following day.
