A Caracas Jewish center was hit in an anti-Semitic bomb attack on Thursday, resulting in light damage. The attack comes as the climate against the Jewish community in Venezuela is increasingly hostile. Community leaders’ report the doors to the building were damaged, adding Baruch Hashem the attack occurred during the predawn hours and as such, no one was inside.
Jewish community leaders state without a doubt that the recent anti-Israel rhetoric heard from President Hugo Chavez was a major contributory factor to the attack. The Venezuelan Jewish community numbers 15,000.
