Latest Poll Shows Bloomberg Still Riding High in Ratings

bloomis.jpgThe latest poll shows New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg still has high approval ratings as he leads the city through a recession and has solid leads over other contenders.

The Quinnipiac University poll finds Bloomberg, an independent, with an approval rating of 62 percent, with 32 percent of voters giving him an unfavorable rating. That’s down from 69 percent approval in a Jan. 27 poll.

Bloomberg also has a 50 percent to 33 percent lead over City Comptroller William Thompson and a 48 percent to 36 percent lead over U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner, who represents the Rockaway area. Thompson and Weiner are Democrats.

The poll questioned 984 city voters between Feb. 17 and Sunday and has a margin of error of about 3 percentage points.
