Brooklyn Boro President Announces Job Fair 2015

bfToday, Brooklyn Borough President Eric L. Adams announced Brooklyn Job Fair 2015, an opportunity for Brooklynites to come to Brooklyn Borough Hall on Wednesday, May 13th from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM and apply for positions at some of New York City’s major businesses. This networking event is being co-hosted by the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, and is part of a sustained effort by Borough President Adams to advance hiring of local residents through the borough. According to statistics by the New York State Department of Labor, Brooklyn’s unemployment rate in March 2015 was 6.7%, a higher number than that of the city and the state.

As you know members of our community struggle to find good paying jobs, which affects their ability to afford items like housing, food, clothing and tuition. Therefore, the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce and Borough Hall have teamed up to help address this issue head on.

“A Brooklynite with a job is a Brooklynite with boundless potential, and during my administration Brooklyn Borough Hall will always be a place committed to opening the doors to those opportunities,” said Borough President Adams. “I thank the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce and all of the incredible businesses that have stepped up to the plate and asserted they want to employ local talent. Hire Brooklyn, hire the best.”

“The Brooklyn Chamber is proud to help better the lives of residents by connecting them with opportunities for gainful employment,” said Carlo A. Scissura, president and CEO of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce. “A strong economy means a strong Brooklyn, and we can accomplish both by getting our talented Brooklynites working. I want to thank Borough President Adams and all the participating companies for doing their part to hire Brooklyn employees and improve the local business climate.”

Businesses and organizations participating in Brooklyn Job Fair 2015 include All Car Rent A Car, Applebee’s, Brooklyn Nets, Brooklyn Spectator, Consolidated Edison Company, Duane Reade, FC Modular, Forest City Ratner Companies, The Home Depot, Home Reporter and Sunset News, Maimonides Medical Center, Midwood Ambulance Service, Modell’s Sporting Goods, NYC Bike Share, New York City Police Department, New York Life Insurance Company, New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge, New York State Department of Labor, Red Hook on the Road, Santander Bank, Sheraton Brooklyn, Target, TDBank, TerraCRG, Urban Pads, and U.S. Army Battalion, NYC.
