DUE TO THE UPCOMING CHANGES IN MEDICARE/MEDICAID regulations, FIDA, they will also have a FIDA expert explain how upcoming changes will affect general medical coverage as well as home care. IT IS OF UTMOST URGENCY that caregivers are well informed of their options, before they are automatically enrolled.
Featured speakers are:
- Dr. Robert Greenberg, MD, Chief of Geriatric Psychiatry NYU Lutheran Medical Center. Dr. Greenberg has been treating patients from our community for many years and understands the needs of frum patients and their families. He will discuss medications, non-pharmaceutical options, treatments for different stages and behavioral patterns.
- Mr. Miller-Mr. Miller and his wife are Holocaust survivors, who came to America and rebuilt. They were starting to relax and enjoy their nachas, when she developed symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease. He will describe what living with the disease is like, and what he does to make her life as pleasant as possible.
- Mr. Matt Kudish, LMSW Senior Vice President of Caregiver Services, American Alzheimer’s Assn, NYC Chapter. By popular demand, Zicharon has asked Matt to, once again, honor the community by presenting at this event. Matt’s techniques and tips on dealing with a person who has dementia have helped ease the burden of many a caregiver. Zicharon is constantly besieged by requests for copies of Matt’s past presentations.
- FIDA-WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW-All Medicare/Medicaid recipients have or will receive a notice in the mail regarding FIDA. DO NOT DISCARD. It is of utmost importance to understand FIDA and how it will impact your medical and homecare coverage.
Zicharon was established with the goal of helping our community navigate the challenges of living with dementia. They have, in the past, held free of charge, evenings like this one, each time with a panel of experts who could provide much needed guidance to caregivers. It is with this goal in mind that they have chosen these experts for this event. There will be several sponsor tables in the hall, as well, who provide services for the elderly and infirm, many of which the general population is not aware of. The hall will be open at 6:45, so that participants can walk around, and speak to the sponsors.
Refreshments will be served and there will be a mechitza, so that men and women could attend. There is no admission fee for this event and everyone is welcome.
