Former MK Dr. Yossi Beilin reports he met in Geneva with the head of the International Red Cross, Jakob Kellenberger, who informed him the international aid organization has not given up, and he is making enormous efforts towards arranging a meeting with Gilad Shalit. Kellenberger explained he is determined to deliver a message from Israel to Shalit.
Beilin, a former leader of the left-wing party added that he hopes that the voices in Israel calling to prohibit Red Cross visits to Arab prisoners hear this and realize it is not a wise move. Doing so he explains would give Hamas justification to continue its policy of denying Shalit visits.
