MK Uri Maklev addressed the recent violent rioting by members of Israel’s Ethiopian community. In his address in the opening session of the summer session of the 20th Knesset, Maklev spoke of the violence directed against that community and the incitement against the chareidi tzibur. He explained how “entire communities” in Israel fall prey to incitement and suffer from this day in and day out.
Maklev added “the distress of discrimination” is not only among citizens of Ethiopian descent but to other segments of society too.
“We are all shocked by the violence that accompanied the protests of the Ethiopian community. We all reject violence but we do understand where it comes from. There is this inner feeling that bursts out as a result of police violence”.
Maklev fears even if quiet is restored this is nothing more than “putting out a fire” and lacks the necessary steps to actually address the discrimination that exists in society. Maklev feels the Ethiopian community suffers this discrimination by the hands of police, in the education system and in efforts to find housing. He stressed the Ethiopians, chareidim and Arabs are all victims of discrimination in Israel, discrimination that is manifest in numerous areas including police violence against those sectors.

When in Opposition when must be concerned of ‘incitement’ because it leads often to concrete actions and edicts.
But now in Government, Chareidim should be the adults and show indifference to so called ‘incitement’
As the saying goes
“The dogs may bark but the caravan moves on”
Chareidim can’t solve problems by crying about being the victims as some other groups are doing .
It ‘s eminently easier to consider yourselves a persecuted minority and complain of ‘incitement’[especially when it has been somewhat accurate],than to step forward and lead
The Haredi ‘sector’ need to stop perceiving themselves as they have often done for the past couple generations as a ‘sector’ or ‘community’, they should righteously don the mantle of national societal leadership and move the people forward !
Sure the screams against you[plural] from all those who hitherto claimed you shirk your role in society will ironically get fiercer ,but that is expected and comes with the territory.
