Kulanu party leader Moshe Kahlon, who is going to serve as Finance Minister, promises to work towards making public buses available on Shabbos. Kahlon told Channel 2’s Meet the Press on motzei Shabbos 13 Iyar that he feels this is an important social issue which he support.
Kahlon explains many people cannot afford to take a taxi and many do not have a vehicle so it is a public bus or nothing. He added that his party’s coalition agreement with Likud does not make mention of supporting religious legislation, opening the door for his efforts to promote public buses on Shabbos. At present this is only the case in Haifa due to its sizable non-Jewish population.
On this Friday night the privately funding ‘Shabus’ service began, operating a hand full of minivans in a number of areas to the center of town from the hours of 20:00 to 03:00. The minivans were hired from an eastern Jerusalem company and driven by non-Jews.

Kahlon used to be a simple traditional fellow
However he and his whole party are being maneuvered and run by ‘others’
(arguably this also partially laid at the door of Deri’s haggling and horse tradings )
