During a meeting this week between President Reuven Rivlin and US Ambassador to Israel Dan Shapiro President Rivlin stressed the importance of continued direct talks with the PA (Palestinian Authority). He warned that unilateral action would only result in negative consequences and would not resolve the ongoing conflict between Israel and the PA.
Former US President Jimmy Carter was supposed to be visiting Gaza towards advancing the so-called “peace process” but at the last moment that visit was canceled. Carter wished to meet with Israeli leaders, the president and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, but they shunned him, declaring him persona non grata due to his anti-Israel policies.
