Yisrael Beitenu leader Avigdor Lieberman met on Tuesday, 2 Iyar with Bayit Yehudi faction leader Ayelet Shaked. The meeting is viewed as a continuation of the cooperation between the parties, as was reported earlier. The two met in a Jerusalem restaurant. Shaked is handling negotiations with Likud representatives for her party.
The two parties were both seeking to secure the Foreign Ministry portfolio in the early stages of coalition negotiations. It became clear to Bayit Yehudi early on in the talks that it does not have a chance to receive the high-level appointment. As it became apparent to both party leaders, Lieberman and Naftali Bennett, that they were not going to realize the fulfillment of their wish lists, the two decided to cooperate in the hope of pressuring Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to change his negotiating tactics.

אין קשר לרשעים that’s what Bennet did last time with Yesh Atid and helped ruin the country. it’s impossible to work with such people. The whole process is so cumbersome.

Lieberman has said he will not sit with UTJ and Bayit Yehudi claims to be unwilling to allow shas to control the religious ministry, so it looks like a stalemate. According to many polls, for what they are worth, Likud will tank if there is another election. herzog and livni have more to gain in a new election
They can threaten to turn the government over to Labor – which really won’t help them stay in employed after the next election. If they don’t support a Likud-led government, then Likud will form a government with Labor (along with the haredim and Kulanu).

The real person to blame with these alliances between strange bedfellows, is Netanyahu. If he didn’t play these games, Bayit Yehudi never would have made an alliance with Lapid, nor would they do so with Lieberman, though Lieberman is closer politically than Lapid to Bayit Yehudi.
