Thanks to the fast response of the volunteers of the Rockaway Citizens Safety Patrol (Shomrim) and the members of the NYPD, what appears to be a serial burglar has just been taken into custody.
Sources tell YWN that an alert neighbor saw a black man enter the home of an Orthodox Jewish family on Beach 12th Street and Central Avenue just before 12:00PM Thursday, and quickly called 911 and Shomrim. Shomrim and police responded in seconds, and took the suspect into custody without further incident.
He was found to be in possession of drugs as well.
In the past few days, more than 8 homes belonging to Jewish families were burglarized in the area.
In one burglary alone, close to $10,000 of jewelry was stolen from a home on Beach 12th Street.
Police and Shomrim increased their patrols hoping to catch the perpetrator. Shomrim went even further, and some of their dedicated volunteers took off from work today just to patrol the area hoping to nail the suspect. All the burglaries were during daylight hours.
Detectives are on the scene taking fingerprints and hope to match them up with the other burglaries in the past few days.
Further details will be published when available.

The problem is- is this guy 13 or 14?? As such; will he be locked up?
Try 9 or 10 maybe
And he will probably just get a juvenile criminal record and then go free
he would go to juvie
By the way he is 13
His mama’s gonna be real mad.
Is that obama?
this kid is too young to be a serial burgler…maybe they meant cereal burgler,:)
He is only starting out his career. Within another few years he will have quite a long rap sheet.
The best sentence for this kid would be community service with the Jewish community that he was burglarizing. It would give him an understanding of a culture he doesn’t know and give them a better understanding of the material goods driven world he is a part of.
i went to school with dantee debazio
he is good kid , he needs $ for new sneekers
I knew him too. He’s 12 and I tried to stop him but he did it anyway.
