Brooklyn – Simcha Felder (D-Brooklyn) is encouraging you to register your cell phone number with the National Do Not Call Registry if you are being bothered by telemarketers. People have long experienced numerous calls at home, but recently, telemarketers have expanded their reach and are now contacting the public on their personal cell phones. Many people are unaware that they have the ability to put the bothersome calls to rest.
The National Do Not Call Registry gives you the opportunity to end these annoying calls. Once your number has been added to the list, telemarketers have up to 31 days from the date you registered to stop calling. If you continue to receive these calls you can file a complaint at http://www.donotcall.gov. Registration is free for both home and cell phone numbers.
“If you are either tired of being constantly bothered by telemarketers on your cell phone or don’t want to wait for them to start driving you crazy, here is your chance to do something about it,” said Felder.
Numbers added to the Do Not Call Registry remain on the list permanently. If for any reason you change your mind, numbers can be easily removed from the Do Not Call Registry by calling toll-free 1-888-382-1222 from the telephone number you want to delete.

The Truth about Cell Phones and the Do Not Call Registry
Despite Re-Circulating E-mail, It is Still Not Necessary to Register Cell Phone Numbers
As the number of phone numbers on the National Do Not Call (DNC) Registry surpassed 139 million, the Federal Trade Commission today reiterated that despite the claims made in e-mails circulating on the Internet, consumers should not be concerned that their cell phone numbers will be released to telemarketers at any time in the near future. In addition, according to the agency, it is not necessary to register cell phone numbers on the DNC Registry to be protected from most telemarketing calls to cell phones.
The truth about cell phones and the DNC Registry is:
* Contrary to the e-mail, cell phone numbers are NOT being released to telemarketers, and you will NOT soon be getting telemarketing calls on your cell phone.
* There is NO deadline by which you must register your cell phone number on the Registry.
* Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulations prohibit telemarketers from using automated dialers to call cell phone numbers. Automated dialers are standard in the industry, so most telemarketers are barred from calling consumers on their cell phones without their consent.
“This is the second notice: The factory warranty on your vehicle is about to expire!…”
…I get that on my cell at least twice a week.
how do you block a number from texting you on a blackberry?
so instead of helpin yeshivas he tells us this and about tax refunds
I am listed in the “Do Not Call Registry” from the time it was implemented. Nothing irks me more than the frum promotional robotcalls we get constantly to our house. Why do they not have to abide with the law regarding unsolicited calls???
Hey this is something interesting! Wow!
And guess what Simcha, Columbus discovered America!
The FTC is incorrect. Companies are now calling every combination of numbers in every area code, including cells.
