Two housekeeping employees at Jerusalem’s Inbal [formally the LaRomme] Hotel deny the allegations leveled against them, but admit the rooms from which the valuables of guests were stolen are rooms under their care.
According to police investigator Shlomi Ben-David, the two used a master key to enter safes in the rooms, making off with valuables belonging to guests. It appears the master key used by housekeeping personnel to enter rooms also permits them access to the room safe, even though guests are led to believe the safe cannot be opened by employees.
The two were held for 24 hours following their arrest, then released on bail but ordered not to come near the hotel for a 30 day period as the investigation continues.
