While the party is exhibiting an air of unity ahead of elections, all is not as well as it may appear in Yahadut HaTorah, despite the achdus exhibited at the motzei Shabbos kenos and the united front being exhibited by Gedolei Yisrael.
Chanoch Zeibert, the director of Agudas Yisrael, received a letter from Degel HaTorah instructing him to compel Yehoshua Pollack to resign from Knesset, immediately. The letter was signed by Moshe Gafne, dated 4 Shvat (January 29th). Pollack, who was next on the list, became an MK after Rav Avraham Ravitz z”l, the leader of Degel HaTorah was niftar.
At the end of the day, there is no trust in Yahadut HaTorah between the factions and the representatives in Agudah and Degel are barely holding it together until the election, hoping perhaps weather forecasts for storms will not prove a true prophecy and voter turnout will be higher than the dismal predictions, perhaps even resulting in a sixth seat for the party.
The predictions for this election are quite unique, with pollsters releasing statements like “the lowest voter turnout ever”. The badly needed rain that we have all been davening for is also due to arrive, albeit for one day, tomorrow, Tuesday, Election Day, which most experts believe will also contribute to lower voter turnout.
