Turkey Continues Working Against Israel

It appears the sharp drop in Israeli tourism to Turkey is not enough to compel Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to halt his vehement anti-Israel campaign. The Turkish state prosecutor is now working to ascertain if charges of “crimes against humanity” can be filed against Israel for the actions of IDF soldiers in Gaza during Operation Cast Lead.

Officials are also examining documents from Islamic human rights organizations, as well as the possibility of targeting senior government officials, including President Shimon Peres, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni. Turkish officials are looking into the possibility of arresting them should they step foot on Turkish soil.

In a related matter, the International Criminal Court in The Hague is looking into filing indictments against senior IDF officers for war crimes and other illegal actions related in part to Israel’s use of white phosphorus bombs in civilian population centers.
