In an erev Shabbos interview on Kol Chareidi Radio, Shas leader Eli Yishai warned that Yisrael Beitenu leader Avigdor Lieberman will bring disaster to Am Yisrael, referring to the party’s demands to pass a law permitting a secular marriage for preferring such a ceremony of marriage in accordance with halacha.

He added that Lieberman will support opening additional stores to sell pork products, as well as seeking to compel chareidim to serve in the IDF or alternatively do some type of recognized sheirut leumi national service.

Yishai was referring to Yisrael Beitenu as the “new Shinui Party”, referring to the now-defunct pro-secular party that was formed by the late Tommy Lapid.
