The Gabbaim of Beis Knesses Heichal Aaron in on Matisyahu Street in Bnei Brak is under fire from City Hall for the shul was destroyed on Chol Hamoed.
City Hall officials explain the shul was established a number of years ago on the ground floor of the Arugot HaBosem Nursing Home and when it was evacuated, the shul moved to a nearby caravan owned by the city. Now, after it was decided to evacuated the caravan the mispallalim decided to set a new caravan in place a number of buildings away. The new caravan however did not have the required permits.
City spokesman Avraham Tannenbaum personally visited the site and explains the building was placed in a public area without the proper authorization from the city. He emphasizes there is no oral or written authorization. Tannenbaum is critical of the gabbai’s decision to place the new caravan without obtaining permits in advance. He explains the area selected is near the new Armanot Wolf catering hall, adding the city will not permit gabbaim to do as they please without city authorization, and in this case, on public land.
Mispallalim question why the city had to destroy the caravan davka on Chol Hamoed, questioning why such an act could not wait until after yomtov.
