According to a Channel 2 News report, Israeli intelligence working in cooperation with authorities in an unspecified European country foiled a major attack planned against an Israeli target. The attack was intended to coincide with the one-year anniversary of the car bomb death of number two Hizbullah commander Imad Mughniyeh. Hizbullah continues to blame Israel for the Damascus car bomb attack that claimed his life in February 2008.
In addition, Hizbullah’s elite ‘1800 unit’ continues efforts to perpetrate a quality attack inside Israel. The Times of London recently reported that last year, another attack was foiled, this time against the Israeli embassy in Azerbaijan. Local intelligence officials became aware of the plot. The report went on to quote Hizbullah leader Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah as saying the July was will seem insignificant when the Zionists see what is planned for them.
The report goes on to state that Egyptian authorities also prevented an attack by a Sinai-based terror cell headed by Sami Shihab, a Lebanese citizen.
