Rali Abu Iyad, 23, a resident of a PA (Palestinian Authority) autonomous area near Ramallah, was indicted in the Jerusalem District Court on Tuesday for the robbery and aggravated assault of an elderly Jerusalem woman. The victim is the mother of the contractor who employees the Arab construction worker.
 
The suspect allegedly appeared at the woman’s home on Bar Ilan Street, explaining he is employed by her son, who he stated owes him money. He was accompanied by a second suspect. The two requested to enter her home to call her son. She agreed. When they entered, they began beating her with closed fists and slammed her head on the floor. They bound her hands and legs and stuffed a whole onion in her mouth and secured it in place with a rag. The two then began searching the apartment.
 
They made off with NIS 1,800 from her wallet and fled after she passed out. She was on the ground, bound and gagged for three hours until her son returned.
