Rav David Abu-Chatzeirah of Nahariya Shlita came out in support of Shas in the upcoming general election for the 18th Knesset. In the chareidi world, the endorsement is seen as a major one, one that will undoubtedly bring additional votes to Shas.
In the meantime, Shas leader Minister Eli Yishai on Tuesday announced his party endorses Likud leader Binyamin Netanyahu’s bid for the premiership. Yishai stated that he will recommend that the mandate for forming the next government should be placed in Likud hands.
Regarding some of Netanyahu’s previous mistakes, Yishai assured supporters at an election rally that a strong Shas will be the backbone and watchdog for Netanyahu.
Yishai was quite confident regarding a Likud success in the election, rejecting any attempt to suggest that the chareidi Sephardi party throw its support behind Kadima leader Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni.

It’s nice that “Yishai assured supporters at an election rally that a strong Shas will be the backbone and watchdog for Netanyahu.” Where was Shas at the Gush Katif expulsion? Where were they when Netanyahu signed the Wye agreement re Chevron? …
I’m sorry to say but Shas is just another hack political party i.e. “What’s in it for me?”
