Tri-State Braces For Impending Winter Storm

weather1.gifTuesday will generally be calm across the Tri-state, with seasonal temperatures and a mix of sun and clouds. It’s during the overnight hours however that a winter storm will unleash snow and freezing rain over the area, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a Winter Weather Advisory in effect until midnight Wednesday night.

Lowering clouds will move over the area around 10 p.m. Tuesday night, and snow will fall starting shortly after midnight, predicts CBS 2 HD Meteorologist John Elliot.

The precipitation could become heavy at times during the Wednesday morning commute. Snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches are possible during this time, with 2 to 4 inches possible along the coast.

Warmer air aloft will move into the area beginning late Wednesday morning, but temperatures will remain below freezing late Wednesday morning through early Wednesday afternoon. This will allow for the development of sleet and freezing rain with up to one tenth of an inch of ice possible during this time.

Temperatures will warm above freezing during the afternoon, allowing precipitation to change over to plain rain before tapering off by midnight Wednesday night.

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow, sleet or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities and use caution while driving.

  1. All, weather comes from Hashem and is good. We need rain as well as sunshine. We should not consider rain and snow as ‘bad’. In Eretz Yisroel, they are desperate for rain right now. The weather is all good. We just don’t like the inconvenience of rain, snow or cold.

  2. It seems like the days when it really snowed are gone forever! Must be global warming! since when has 2-5
Inches of snow become a major
    Storm!

  3. OFF ON TANGENT, just a bit!
Just to point out, in Eretz Yisroel, where they are in a drought ~ especially now after shmitta ~ Yidden began saying the tefilla printed in most sidurim in Shma Koleinu appealing for rachmei Shamayim and asking for rain! Perhaps we too should include it in our daily teffilos on their behalf!
