NYC MTA Fare Hike Takes Effect This Weekend


mca.jpgCommuters in the city will be reaching a little deeper into their pockets starting this weekend.

Single ride subway and bus fares are going up 25 cents from $2.50 to $2.75.

The price of a seven day MetroCard is increasing one dollar, to $31.

And an unlimited monthly MetroCard goes up from $112 to $116.50.

Tolls on MTA bridges and tunnels are going up, too

E-ZPass customers will now have to pay $5.54.

Those who use cash will see increases between 6.7 and 10 percent.

The fare and toll hike goes into effect Sunday.
