A tragedy struck a Jerusalem family whose 7-year-old son was niftar on Sunday night, Rosh Chodesh Shvat, due to a major infection.
During the predawn hours, his parents realized something was not in order and they called for an ambulance. Hatzolah medics were the first on the scene, reporting the child was in cardiac arrest. CPR was immediately started and the child was transported to Hadassah Mount Scopus Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time after it became apparent to doctors that he resuscitation was not successful.
Zaka stepped up to bat to fight requests for an autopsy, stating it was clear to doctors that the child died of a fatal bacterial infection and an autopsy would not contribute in any way.
The family of the niftar is a former immigrant from France, living in N’vei Yaakov and a member of the Jerusalem Breslov community.
