Eliav Goali, 24, was arrested by Philippines authorities at Ebu City Airport after announcing he would not remove his shoes for inspection, adding “I have a bomb in my shoes”.
The arrest was made on Sunday afternoon and the suspect was prohibited from boarding his flight, 5J572 bound for Manila at 3:50pm after he joked about having a bomb in his shoes, apparently after refusing to remove his shoes for inspection.
According to the report, Goali, a resident of Yerushalayim, was intending to travel to Manila, from where he was scheduled to board a flight to Bangkok and then Australia. Another Israeli, identified as Naor Narkisi, 25, was with him but not arrested, but he opted to remain with his friend who was taken into custody.
Goali apologized but will nevertheless face charges for making a false bomb threat. Israeli diplomatic officials in Manila are already involved in the matter.

How stupid can you get! He was probably set up to promote the shoe he was wearing by some wanna be successfull arab shoe company!
He is probably only in jail, not prison. Prison is for long sentences for serious crimes after conviction (note; Philippines has a criminal justice system similar to the US, at least in terms of strcture). Jail is for minor crimes, people awaiting trial, and public nuisances.
Jump off the roof and then complain that it’s not fair that it hurts!
he was really dumb to say that, but a bomb threat?
#4, it is what passes for a threat these days. You have to be extremely obtuse to say something as brainless as that.
Did ANYONE actually believe that he was NOT joking?
I am not recommending that anyone joke like this.
But, if it hardly ever happens, and it is perfecly obvious that it is a joke, it is probably better to just insist that he take his shoes off. If not, it becomes serious. Not because of the joke, but because he will not take the shoes off. However in jail he is forced to do that anyway. The whole thing seems exaggerated.
