Thousands of Shas supporters were on hand at the Yazdim Shul in the Bucharim area of Yerushalayim on motzei Shabbos 23 Adar, the same shul that was used for Maran HaGaon HaRav Ovadia Yosef’s ZT”L motzei Shabbos shiurim. Some chareidi media aired the event live.
The main event was the address from the head of the party’s Torah Council, HaGaon HaRav Shalom Cohen Shlita. He emphasized by voting Shas one does not do a favor for anyone but oneself, stressing the need to act “L’Shem Shomayim”.
Rav Cohen continued; “We need Maran’s bracha and I am certain we will have a greater merit now that he is in the Olam HaEmmes. What a wonderful Kiddush Hashem it would be if we received 24 mandates so we can be MeKadesh HKBH’s name for there is nothing like Kiddush Hashem in the world”.
Party leader Aryeh Deri also addressed the event.

Doesn’t it seem like almost every party says “Vote for me in order to be MeKadesh HKBH”. How can anybody take that statement seriously?
