Reservist Sent to Prison for 21 Days for Publicizing Gaza Photos

IDF reservist 33-year-old Yaron Olmi, a Herzliya councilman, was sent to military prison for 21 days for taking photos while he was operating in Gaza during Operation Lead Cast and distributing some of the photos to the media. Actually, some of the photos were aired in a special segment by Israel’s Channel 2 TV.

As a result, he was found guilty of violating the regulations of the military censor and sent to the slammer.

Responding to the sentence against her son, Yaron’s mom stated that her son is a good boy and one who generally complies with rules and takes life seriously. She expressed outrage over the “inappropriate response” by the military, stating Friday is his birthday and because of the unjustified jail sentence, he cannot spend it with his 8-month pregnant wife and their child.

She added she plans to visit the prison with a birthday cake and if not permitted in, she will sit outside with the cake and sing happy birthday all alone.

  1. After reading the story, I now know where the kid got it from!

Lady, you are lucky all he is getting is 21 days. He should be rotting for years. I guess he didn’t take sensitive pictures.
