An American vessel on Monday night intercepted and Iranian ship filled with weapons intended for Hamas in Gaza.
Members of the American fleet San Antonia boarded the Iranian vessel without any resistance as part of America’s commitment to work to prevent future weapons smuggling into Gaza.
An unspecified “large quantity” of ammunition was uncovered as well as cartons marked “dangerous substance” on board the Iranian vessel, CBS reported.
The Americans confirm that have committed to working to assist Israel to prevent arms smuggling into Gaza, and the members of the American fleet acted on intelligence information when the decision was made to board the Iranian vessel.
The matter of Israel’s continued concerns regarding future weapons smuggling into Gaza was a topic of discussion between Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and US President Barak Obama on his first day in office, when he phoned the prime minister and other Mideast leaders.

There are a few typos in this report. The American ship would be the USS San Antonio which is leading the anti-piracy cammpaign near Somalia (but apparently is also boarding Iranian ships searching for contraband). I don’t think that the photograph relates to this report at all.
Didn’t we always know that Iran was a supplier for Hamas? Thank you Americans for stopping this ship. What was done to the weapons when found, sending them back to Iran is not the answer…
B’H they intercepted the first of many present and future attempts. So what did they do with it? Did they just send it back so they can figure out another way?

The New York Post has an interesting editorial today about Israel’s mistake. Unfortunately this is an old story. I also fear with Hillary as Secretary of State that this may be the last time we will see such help from the United States.

can you please get a resolution against Iran for doing such a violent act if not for the Israeli women and children at least for the sake of Palestinian women and children these weapons are used not exclusively against Jews as you would like it to be its used against your so concerned innocent women and children of the Fattah and others as well
Was the ship intercepted before Hillary was sworn in?
The USS San Antonio is, IIRC from the head, an LPH (Landing Platform, Helicopter), which is basically a small aircraft carrier run by the Navy with Marines on board. The air wing consists mainly of Marine planes, including tens of helicopters and a number of AV-8B Harrier VSTOL aircraft. It has a core crew of about 1500 and a marine / air complement of another 2000 or so, perhaps more.

No, it means that you can’t expect Hillary to be a friend of those who deride and bash her. Set aside what you may think of her so that she can see Jews as her supporters. In turn, she will support us.
#8: No, the USS San Antonio is LPD 17 — not an LPH. LPHs are the original helicopter carriers and do not exist currently in the Navy. Other ships serve their function. An LPD is a ship that has a dock in back that landing craft can come and go from, and a large deck for helicopters, although not as big of a deck as the old LPHs or the newer LHAs and LHDs.
