Thanks to a fast response by the NYPD and Williamsburg Shomrim, a man who had just committed a robbery at gunpoint was quickly apprehended.
Sources tell YWN that just after midnight on Friday morning, a 21-year-old Williamsburg resident was held up at gunpoint at the intersection of Union Avenue and Walton Street. The suspect pointed his gun at the victim and demanded his wallet. After handing the suspect his wallet, the suspect punched the man in the face and fled on foot.
Police and Shomrim were called, and Shomrim found the suspect fleeing the scene. He was followed at a safe distance and his location was given to police who quickly arrived and took the man into custody on Union Avenue and Wallabout Street.
The gun and the wallet were retrieved from the suspect.
Williamsburg Hatzolah was dispatched to the scene to evaluate the victim for his injuries. Thankfully, he only had minor injuries, and was not hospitalized.
The suspect has been named as Henry Romeo, 19, from Brooklyn, who has a history of prior arrests.
