IDF Southern District Commander Major-General Yoav Gallant in a meeting with reservists winding down their service following Operation Cast Lead, had words of praise for their performance.
Gallant, who commanded the counter-terrorism offensive aimed at dismantling the Hamas infrastructure, explained the success is attributed in no small part due to the excellent coordination between land, air and naval forces, as well as intelligence community reports, which were by and large extremely accurate. The senior commander stated “morale was high” and this too contributed to the success.
Gallant stated all the objectives set by the military were achieved, and Hamas has learned a painful lesson in the process. He stated the reservists performed admirably, proving once again that when they are called upon, they get the job done.
Prior to the order to pull troops out of Gaza, Security-Political Cabinet members were polled on the phone on Tuesday close to midnight. The vote was unanimous, to order a total troop withdrawal while maintaining a ready status of forces outside Gaza to respond to any and all violations of the ceasefire.

“dismantling the Hamas infrastructure”
Then WHO was it who was firing rockets off at Israeli cities up to the final minute? Fear of retaliation my be a factor, but the fact they kept up firing until the Israeli army called for a truce suggest the “infrastructure” is quite intact.

Firing a rocket does not require an infrastructure. It can be carried out by just 1 terrorist, 1 rocket, and 1 launcher. Why in the world do you consider a fired rocket to be indicative of a functioning infrastructure??
as long as they are undeterred, there is infrastructure. it doesnt matter how much or little, it is equally as dangerous and should be met with heavy handedness. Just 1 or 2 times that they DONT call off an retaliation EVEN with human shields, will show them and the world that we are not risking our citizens for theirs. better theirs dead than ours. who cares about world opinion, they themselves killed more civilians without batting an eyelash!
