While Yahadut Hatorah has announced the major pre-election kenos is cancelled, the litvish Degel Hatorah faction has decided to host a kenos in Bnei Brak, without the participation of its partner, the chassidish Agudas Yisrael party.
The original plan called for a joint kenos in Jerusalem’s Arena Stadium, but the plan was scrapped due to the costs involved and the difficulties surrounding transportation; both logistical and costs, as well as bringing gedolei yisrael shlita to the event.
The new venue is Landau Street in Bnei Brak, which was also met with objections by Agudas Yisrael, prompting Degel to go it alone. Degel insists a kenos cannot be held without the participation of Maran HaGaon HaRav Aaron Yehuda Leib Shteinman Shlita. The event was going to be held on Tuesday, 19 Adar but was pushed off until Wednesday evening 20 Adar. Some admorim may be in attendance as well.
