Ramapo Police Looking For Hit-And-Run Vehicle Which Left Jewish Man With Serious Injuries

Ramapo Police report that on Sunday, March 8th at approximately 09:20pm, they received a call in regards to a pedestrian struck at the intersection of Route 45 and Washington Ave. Upon arrival on scene, officers determined that a 61 year old male was struck by an unknown gold sedan while he was attempting to cross Washington Ave. The vehicle struck the pedestrian and immediately fled the scene going north on Route 45. The pedestrian, later identified as Solomon Diamant of Monsey, suffered numerous head, face,and chest injuries. Diamant was transported, via Hatzolah Ambulance, to Westchester Medical Center for treatment.

Ramapo Police Accident Investigation Unit responded to the scene and conducted an accident reconstruction. A portion of Route 45 was closed for approximately 3 hours during the investigation.

It was later determined that although serious, Diamant’s injuries were non-life threatening.

The suspected vehicle is believed to be a gold colored, 4 door 1999 to 2001 Toyota Camry. The vehicle sustained damage to the passenger side, particularly the passenger side mirror which was broken from the Camry and left at the scene. Vehicle last seen heading north on Route 45.
