Chief Rabbi of Cholon Rabbi Avraham Yosef, a son of Maran Rav Ovadia Shlita, reports on Friday morning that his father Shlita is improving and “Baruch Hashem, HaKadosh Baruch Hu sent excellent shluchim” and the Rav is recuperating following an extended period of “severe excruciating back pain”.
I asked Rav Avraham the Rav’s proper name for tefillos due to ongoing controversy over the matter. His response was “Avi Mori has two names, Ovadia and Yosef and therefore tefillos should be recited for Ovadia Yosef ben Gurgia” as it is written, as per the Rav’s son. The name of the mother is Gurgia and NOT Gorgia or Georgia.

i dont know if im allowed to put this link here, but there is a touching video or Rav Ovadia Yosef crying to Rabbi Sheinberg to pray for him because of his excruciating back pain — Rav Yosef says its not letting him learn enough.
