In Meah Shearim, the Elef L’Matte ‘war room’ is operational and in the area batei medresh, avreichim have each adopted an IDF soldier, learning and davening on his behalf, for his well-being and his safety. The women in the area have been instructed to daven on behalf of the soldiers as well.
Rebbitzin Grossman exudes words of praise for the initiative launched by HaGaon Rav Simcha HaCohen Kook Shlita and the Bostoner Rebbe Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Horowitz Shlita, of Har Nof. The rebbitzin explained the project also received a special bracha from Maran Chaim Kanievsky Shlita, and it is being run by Rav Ido Grossman.
The operation was launched during the 2006 Second Lebanon War but now they explain it has gained real momentum and support.
One story that is creating a buzz pertains to soldiers from a kibbutz, who all returned safely from battle, except for one who was injured. It was noticed that his name was inadvertently omitted from the Elef L’Matte list.
The phones continue to ring, from both sides, including families and friends of soldiers as well as from soldiers themselves. In one case, a soldier called and submitted 70 names for tefillos on their behalf.
The learning and davening is also being conducted for the residents of rocket-stricken area, who are in constant sakona (danger).
Women from all areas of Israeli life are manning the phones, all volunteering, recording names and information from Israel and around the world. Officials point out that callers are requested to give a complete name of an individual, including a mother’s name but nothing else, not rank or any other title.

In Eretz Yisroel it is easier to see nissim. Either that, or they occur more often. It is truly amzazing. Now we have to be mispallel for even more nissim, even if we do not see them.
