His family calls him Simon, although he wasn’t officially named at a Bris yet. While in the womb, Simon was in a sac that was constantly leaking it water out. Simon was born, despite the low survival rate of fetuses in these situations. He has his hands, lips and all organs intact, and is a loveable, beautiful baby. He is a true miracle.
However, the pregnancy condition has left a mark on his lungs, they are underdeveloped and immature (hypoplasia lungs).
In order for Simon to survive, his lungs must mature and clear up. Unfortunately, current living conditions are robbing him of the chance to progress. The family lives in a small apartment and they have recently discovered that it’s mold-infested. Bacteria in the air makes its way straight into Simon’s lungs making it harder for him to breathe and allow his lungs to heal.
We have seen him under attack time and time again, breathing through a respirator fighting for his dear life. His lungs are repeatedly stricken by one case of pneumonia after the other. Doctors say that his lungs are not capable of fighting so much anymore and soon…”He will die.”
Vital medical treatments and a new apartment are his last options. A new apartment will give us the opportunity to set up a proper sterilized room for our little patient that will enable him to heal and build his lungs so he will be a perfect miracle…a healthy baby!!
Simon’s father has been working overtime, struggling to cover their growing expenses. Our wonderful family offers endless emotional support and constantly gives of our meager salaries in an effort to help in every way possible. However, raising a lump sum in just a short while would be impossible.
Your contribution will go towards:
*Medical lung treatments, not covered by insurance.
*A new mold-free home equipped with a sterilized room, machinery, nurses and medical essentials
*Moving expenses
*Lost wages, due to extensive hospital stays
In the past 5 days since we started this campaign we have been amazed at the outpouring of support, donations and kindness. We have already raised $30,000 of our $200,000 goal. This large sum will cover the $20,000 per month needed for Simon to stay alive! The expenses for Simon include medical expenses for doctors, travelling, nurses and aids, treatments and many other daily living necessities. We have also been able to arrange a vital trip for Simon to regain his health and receive treatments and we have started looking for an appropriate apartment for the family.
We can’t reach our goal by March 4th without your support. Anything you can do is wonderful, amazing, and appreciated. If you can’t contribute, then your continued prayers for Shimon ben Esther would also be greatly appreciated.
Please give Simon a chance to breathe and, ultimately, breathe on his own. Every minute counts so please donate and with your help Simon will be able to breathe normally for life!
